Acura TLX GT Race Car Gears Up for Detroit Grand Prix Debut
Home > WOT > Acura TLX GT Race Car Gears Up for Detroit Grand Prix Debut After debuting at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in January, the 2015 Acura TLX GT racer is ready for the track. Scheduled to compete in the Pirelli World Challenge competition at the Detroit Grand Prix in May, the TLX GT has its work cut out for it since it'll be faced with stiff competition. The TLX GT will go head-to-head with heavy hitters like the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911, and Ferrari 458, but even those names won't stop it from competing. Developed by Honda's racing arm, Honda Performance Development (HPD), the TLX GT has been fitted with a special chassis and aerodynamic performance parts approved for the Pirelli World Challenge. Powering the GT racer will be the regular TLX's V-6, but it's been beefed up with two turbochargers. The GT has also been equipped with Acura's SH-AWD for improved traction.
