General Motors Recalls 662,656 Additional Vehicles
Home > WOT > General Motors Recalls 662,656 Additional Vehicles This hasn't been a great week for GM, as the automaker recently expanded its ignition switch recall to more than 2.19 million cars -- now covering all Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR; Pontiac G5 and Solstice; and Saturn Ion and Sky models sold in the U.S. Now, the General has upgraded the death toll associated with that recall, and is issuing more recalls affecting certain 2013 and 2014 models. Officially, GM has only acknowledged 12 deaths associated with the faulty ignition switch up until this point. GM has been working with Canadian and U.S. authorities to determine if a fatal crash that occurred in Quebec, Canada in 2013 was in fact linked to the ignition switch issue, and has now confirmed that's the case, officially bringing the death toll to 13 known fatalities. Watchdog group The Center for Auto Safety previously released a report suggesting as many as 303 deaths could be connected to the issue.
